Every month, we had a monthly organizational review, which was presided over by the Chairperson. Despite the nature of the meeting, it was good for me and the team as it brought smiles and joy to all. I remember the time when I scored 27 runs from 9 balls to win a cricket match for Jumbo and was carried off the field by my teammates. At Jumbo, we worked hard but played harder.

Ahead of Asiad in 1982, Jumbo was buzzing with excitement. Following meticulous planning and strategy, Jumbo delivered nearly 43,000 televisions to India as the nation was gearing up to telecast the games in colour for the first time! I also recollect well the period during the Gulf War in 1992, when Jumbo went out of its way to safeguard its employees and their families

I had the honour of working in this great institution for 22 years and was able to lead the Business Group since Jumbo was just 5 years old. Jumbo always paid great attention to employee wellbeing and development. Through careful selection of candidates and rigorous practical training during operations, Jumbo was able to nurture a resilient workforce. The team has withstood many ups and downs, but always emerged successful and stood out in the market with superior performance.

I joined Jumbo in 1980 as an Accounts Assistant, planning a short stay in Dubai—but it quickly became my second family. From 1983, I had the privilege of managing the personal and family accounts of our late founder, Mr. Manohar Chhabria, for over 30 years. A true visionary, he valued people above all else. I still recall the excitement of opening eight showrooms in a single month in August 2000—one of many defining moments. Decades later, my loyalty remains unwavering, built on trust, respect, and a deep bond with the board and our chairperson. Jumbo isn’t just a workplace—it’s been my home for over 40 years.
