Founded by Mr. M. R. Chhabria, Jumbo became one of the first technology companies to launch its retail and distribution business in the UAE.
Established an exclusive partnership with Sony, marking the beginning of a long-standing collaboration.
Expanded into Abu Dhabi with a new store on Airport Road.
Launched the Office Automation Division in collaboration with Ricoh and Brother.
Opened the Jumbo House Headquarters in Bur Dubai, featuring the first large-format retail store. One of the first glass building in UAE
Jumbo shipped colour TVs to India for the Asian Games, introducing colour television to millions of viewers, showcasing Mr. Chhabria’ s expertise in managing large-scale operations.
Opened the largest showroom in the UAE at the time (8,000 sq. ft.) in Fujairah and introduced Supra Electronics in the UAE, its private-label brand for air conditioners and appliances.
Expanded retail presence with a new store on Hamdan Street, Abu Dhabi.
Entered Oman, marking its first international expansion, and participated in the first Gitex Shopper as the largest vendor.
Became a founding sponsor of the Dubai Shopping Festival (DSF) and launched the largest technology warehousing facility (71,500 sq. ft.) in Al Quoz.
Introduced PlayStation to the UAE market.
Introduced Enterprise Systems Business to provide ICT solutions and launched the HVAC division for expanded services.
